Terms of Use.
Short version: use the site, use the tools, don't break them, don't repost the content as your own, and understand that everything here is career coaching not legal/financial advice.
Who these terms are between
These terms are an agreement between you and Corey Peterson doing business as The Career Translator ("I," "me," "the site"). By using the site, subscribing to the newsletter, using the free tools, or buying any product, you agree to these terms.
What the site is (and isn't)
The Career Translator is career coaching content, free AI tools, and paid digital products (prompt packs) aimed at helping people pivot into corporate and tech roles from non-traditional backgrounds.
Nothing on the site is legal advice, financial advice, medical advice, immigration advice, or professional licensed advice of any kind. If you need those, hire someone licensed. The content is my opinion and my experience, aimed at your benefit, but you're responsible for the decisions you make with it.
Free tools
The Career Path Finder and the Job Posting Translator use the Claude API to generate output. That output is AI-generated. It can be wrong, misleading, or incomplete. Use your own judgment before acting on it.
The cert library is researched by me from public sources. Salary ranges, study times, and employer info can change. Always verify with the issuing organization before spending money or enrolling.
The free tools are provided as-is, with no guarantee of uptime, accuracy, or fitness for any particular purpose. I reserve the right to rate-limit, gate, modify, or discontinue any free tool at any time.
Paid products
Digital products (prompt packs, bundles) are sold through Stan Store . All purchases are subject to Stan Store's terms and refund policy. I don't process payments directly.
Because the products are instant-delivery digital goods, refunds are handled case-by-case. If a product is materially different from what was advertised or wasn't delivered, email me at corey@careertranslator.co within 14 days and we'll make it right.
Your content
When you use the free tools, you own your inputs and your outputs. I don't claim rights to anything you type in. See the Privacy Policy for how that input is processed.
My content
Everything I publish on this site — the writing, the blog posts, the prompt packs, the frameworks, the cert library, the tools themselves — is my original work or properly licensed from its source. You're welcome to:
- Read, share, and link to any free content
- Quote short excerpts with attribution
- Use the free tools as intended, as many times as you want
- Apply what you learn from the paid packs to your own career
You're not welcome to:
- Republish the paid packs, in whole or in part, to anyone else
- Scrape or mirror the site's content on another domain
- Strip attribution and pass the content off as your own
- Train a model on the content without written permission
- Resell the prompt packs or bundle them into other paid offerings
Acceptable use
Don't:
- Abuse the free tools (automated scripts, mass submissions, prompt-injection attempts)
- Try to break, probe, or reverse-engineer the site's infrastructure
- Use the site to harass, defame, or harm anyone
- Submit illegal content to any form or tool
I reserve the right to block any user who does any of the above.
Third-party links
The site links to external resources — certification issuers, job boards, apprenticeship programs, Stan Store, social platforms. I'm not responsible for anything that happens on those sites. Their terms and privacy policies apply to their content.
No warranty
The site and everything on it is provided "as-is" and "as-available" with no warranty of any kind, express or implied. I do my best to keep it accurate and useful, but I'm not liable for decisions you make based on it.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, my total liability to you for any claim related to the site is limited to the amount you've paid me in the twelve months before the claim (which, for most free-tool users, is zero dollars).
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that can't be resolved by emailing me first will be resolved in state or federal courts located in Michigan.
Changes to these terms
I can update these terms. Material changes get flagged here with a new "last updated" date. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
